From the Author

I turned sixty in 2021, as the pandemic shut down the world and my mother, my best friend, was diagnosed with dementia. I immersed myself in research on the illness, aging, and wellness— driven to find answers to help care for Mom. And thirsty to better understand the unfolding journey of getting older.

I’ve written much of my life. But after the profound loss of Mom in 2023, I opened a blank page. Lavender Blue is a tribute to Mom’s unwavering kindness and unrelenting tenacity—and a tribute to every woman who is navigating the complexities of family and aging.

At heart, I am a hopeless romantic and connect deeply to nature: tomato vines, wild forests, and trickling creeks ground me. I also practise mindfulness, love cooking new healthy dishes, and strive more every day to find balance. My career has been fulfilling and eclectic, but today, I write from my hometown in Calgary, Alberta. Full-time. Pen to paper. Fingers to keyboard. Writing is my passion.

I strive to write with emotional clarity and a deep respect for the inner lives of women—and to leave my readers with something both true and enduring. I hope you can feel this in between the pages of Lavender Blue.

Stay warm, well, and grounded.
